Eat | Trendy Brunch | Addict

Fitzroy is truly an inner-city mecca for delicious brunch spots! Last weekend we headed to Addict, which was highly recommended by our foodie friends. Their menu is extensive, ranging from simple, classic breakfast dishes to Asian fusion and contemporary dishes. Their menu includes crumpets, eggs benedict, pulled pork burger with gochujang mayo and cured ocean trout.

After an overdose of Korean fried chicken the night before, I felt like having something healthy for brunch. I wanted to order their popular chargrilled ocean trout but they must have recently changed their menu and I ordered the tea cured ocean trout instead. Turned out, the cured ocean trout was a delight!

First of all, this dish was visually appetising with vibrant colours. Check out those small purple potato cubes! I took a good five minutes just to take photos of it, and I thought it was too pretty to eat! Thank goodness it wasn’t a hot dish so I didn’t have to worry it’ll turn cold before I could dig into this beautiful dish.

Ocean TroutI loved the subtle tea flavoured trout which wasn’t too salty, and the flavour of fennel puree balanced the trout very well.

ocean troutWhat a delight to find a 65 degree egg yolk in a brunch dish! The yolk was cooked perfectly, there was a delicate balance of texture, consistency and flavour.

The hubby loves variety, so he ordered the Sweet & Savoury Breakfast Board. Half portion of savoury to start, then finish off with half portion of sweet. A complete set, why not? 🙂

For the savoury bit, he had a classic bacon and mushrooms on toast which is always a good idea although the poached egg was slightly overdone.

For the sweet bit, the coconut chia pudding with fresh fruits and berry compote was refreshingly delicious and not to mention healthy! I loved how fragrant the pudding was with the use of coconut milk instead of dairy milk. The puffed rice added a crispy texture to it.

Now that I’ve Addict-ed, I have a feeling I’ll be addicted to Addict.
